Overview：Aesthetic Oppression and Identity Performance presents LikeWise AI, a speculative mobile application designed to expose how social media platforms transform beauty into a system of algorithmic measurement and control. Through fictional app interfaces, AI-generated imagery and storyboard sequences, the project examines how facial features are quantified into visibility scores that shape online participation and self-presentation. Drawing on theories of platform society, algorithmic culture and algorithmic governmentality, the project argues that AI does not simply evaluate appearance—it actively disciplines identity by encouraging users to internalise platform-defined standards of beauty and visibility.
