Overview: This project aims to critically examine how AI companionship standardises emotional care across different forms of distress, and how its repeated response structures translate vulnerability into comfort, self-regulation, and risk management. Three fictional characters were developed to illustrate the various types of suffering: relational loneliness, existential loneliness, and workplace/social suffering.

Concept
Poster description: The work shows that although AI responds to different people facing different forms of distress, it follows the same underlying response logic, illustrated through three distinct scenarios: university student, office worker, widower. This reveals a deeper issue with AI companionship: the intimacy feels unique, but the comfort is highly standardised.
